Schott's Yucca
6-12 ft. tall x 3-6 ft. wide. Schott's Yucca (Yucca schottii) is a large tree-forming species with huge rosettes of stout, blue-green leaves that give rise to large spikes of ivory flowers. An amazing endemic species from the Chiricahua Mountains of southeastern AZ and the adjacent mountains of southeastern NM, it's tolerant of partial shade, often growing under pines. Very cold hardy, this rare species should be much more widely planted in western drought-tolerant landscapes (xeriscapes).
