'Otto’s Thrill' Dinnerplate Dahlia is a multi-award-winning Dahlia that illuminates and inspires all summer season. 'Otto’s Thrill' has received over 90 awards according to the American Dahlia Society, including the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit. This tall Dahlia will need staking to support its huge flowers. A relatively tall Dahlia, 'Otto’s Thrill' is a nice addition to the back of a perennial border or in a grouping with other summer bloomers such as Agastache, Salvia, ornamental grasses, and other Dahlias. As cut flowers, they are an instant bouquet. Excellent cut flowers – the more you cut, the more it blooms. Dahlias need a full sun location in compost enriched, well-drained soil. They are heavy feeders so before planting add an organic fertilizer to the soil as well. It is hardy in zones 8-10; grow as an annual in cooler zones or dig and store tubers over the winter to re-plant in spring.
